Other Assets
In Exirio's data model, "Other Assets" encompasses financial and non-financial assets that don't fit into traditional investment categories but still contribute to your overall net worth. These assets may not always generate direct returns but are important components of your financial portfolio.
Types of Other Assets
Exirio allows you to track various types of other assets, including:
- Cash and Cash Equivalents: Liquid assets including checking accounts, savings accounts, and money market funds
- Personal Property: Valuable items such as vehicles, jewelry, art, and collectibles
- Business Interests: Ownership stakes in private businesses not traded on public markets
- Intellectual Property: Patents, copyrights, trademarks, and other intangible assets
- Insurance Policies: Cash value components of life insurance and other policies
Tracking Other Assets
Unlike some investments with market-based valuations, other assets often require manual valuation updates. Exirio provides several methods for tracking these assets:
- Manual Valuation: Periodically update the value based on appraisals or estimates
- Depreciation Tracking: For assets that lose value over time
- Transaction Recording: Document purchases, sales, and other transactions affecting the asset
- Document Storage: Attach relevant documentation such as titles, appraisals, or receipts
Cash Management
Cash is a special category of other assets in Exirio that receives dedicated tracking features:
- Bank Account Integration: Connect to financial institutions for automatic balance updates
- Cash Flow Analysis: Track inflows and outflows over time
- Currency exposure: Monitor cash holdings across different currencies
- Liquidity Assessment: Evaluate available cash relative to your overall portfolio
