Unrealized Gain is the cash value of the unrealized profits from an Investment, given its Current Value. It is unrealized as you still hold the Investment (in part or entirely), and can therefore increase or decrease depending on the Valuation of the Investment.
This metric is provided for liquid Investments (Public Securities, Cryptocurrencies, Precious Metals), which are generally divisible and can be liquidated in multiple steps.
